James Dean Nance, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on January 16, 2026, at the age of 73. He was born on May 17, 1952, in Mebane, North Carolina, and spent his life embodying the values of hard work, family, and dedication.

James proudly served in the United States Army from May 21, 1969, to May 2, 1975, during which time he became a respected and distinguished disabled veteran. His military service profoundly influenced his character, instilling in him a drive and sense of purpose that he carried into his later career. Over the years, James held various positions, most notably as an overhauler in the textile business, IT support, truck driver, and in construction. Each role showcased his commitment to hard work and adaptability, traits that left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Beyond his professional life, James was an industrious man whose hobbies reflected his love for creating and building. He found joy in working on a CNC machine and had a particular passion for woodworking, especially with his 3D printer. These interests not only served as fulfilling pastimes but also allowed him to share his skills with those around him.

James's deepest love was always reserved for his family. He cherished his wife, Bobbie Jeane Nance, whom he married, calling her the love of his life. Together, they built a home filled with laughter, love, and memories. His devotion extended to his children: Marnie Jones (Matt), Kayla Nance (Travis), and Jerry Nance, with whom he shared countless moments of pride and joy. However, it was perhaps his grandchildren—Emma, Kenzie, and Jacob—who held a truly special place in his heart. James delighted in every opportunity to spend time with them, sharing stories, laughter, and the wisdom he gathered throughout his life.

In addition to his immediate family, James is survived by his brother, Lloyd Nance (Jann), and his nephew, Jamie Speno. He also leaves behind cherished memories of his parents, the late James Elmer Nance and Eva Laverne Anderson Nance, and his son, Jeffrey Todd Nance, who have been lovingly remembered.
