Jamie Jean Hayes Sanders, 71, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 23, 2026 at her residence. She was born in Davidson County on February 13, 1955 to the late Samuel Brady Hayes and Betty Jean Carolyn Felts Hayes and was the wife of 37 years to William “Bill” Marshall Sanders of the home.
Jamie graduated from TIA with an associates degree in graphic art design. She worked at Burlington Times News and PN Thompson Printing Baby Needs and had her own business, The Studio of Graphic Design for 20 years. She also worked with Integrity church as an office manager before retiring and volunteered in the “Guardian Ad-Litem” program representing young children.
Handy with a hammer, nail and saw, Jamie was successful at any DIY project she tackled, but her passion was gardening and her back yard was her therapy. She loved God and her family and was so proud of her son. Her grandbabies filled her with joy and laughter.
Survivors include her son, Will Sanders (Alexandria); grandchildren, Arlo, Sedona, Blaise, Cellia “CeCi”; step daughter, Brittany Johnson (Brett) and a sister, Jeannine Fuquay (Thomas).
One of Bill’s good friends stated, “Colonel, Jamie was your ‘Rock’!”, and that she was! Sometimes, someone brings a light so bright into the world that it still shines even after they’re gone. That was Jamie and she will be missed beyond what words could ever express.
A service to celebrate Jamie’s life will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, May 11 at New Covenant Fellowship Church by Pastor Kyle Tippins and Pastor Brian Dehart. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall and other times at the home.
