Janet Hazelwood Butler, born on September 19, 1942, in Rockingham County, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2024, at the Solace Center in Asheville, where she moved after spending most of her life in Burlington.
Janet dedicated thirty years of her life to Burlington Parks and Recreation, where she served as an administrative assistant. Her work was not just a job for her; it was a passion that reflected her love for the community. Beyond her professional endeavors, she was an esteemed member of the Women's Club in Burlington, where she generously volunteered at their thrift store, tirelessly working to support those in need. She also took great pride in her faith, being a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Graham.
Janet is survived by her daughter, Paige Tisdale and husband Hank Coppedge; her son, Jere Butler and wife Tina; and her grandchildren, Jonah Tisdale and wife Ashley, Trey Butler and wife Holly, Kristy Butler Booker and husband Avery, Karly Butler Jones and husband Blake, and Kelly Butler. She also leaves behind her sisters, Judy Motley and Ginny Hooper, along with several nieces and nephews.
Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Ronnie Butler, and her parents, Edna Hopper Hazelwood and Henise Hazelwood.
Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church of Graham, 224 N Main St, Graham, NC, on Sunday, September 22, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. The funeral service will take place the following day, Monday, September 23, at First Baptist Church of Graham, at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow the service at Alamance Memorial Park, 4039 S Church St, Burlington, NC.
