Jeanette Oakley Sims

Jeanette worked for several years at Duke Power and was a bookkeeper for a couple of businesses. She was a longtime member of Brookwood Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing in the church choir. Jeanette and her husband loved to travel and had gone to Europe 2 or 3 times (Germany, France, Spain, and Portugal) and also Hawaii. Jeanette traveled with her son to Japan and Hong Kong when he was in the Burlington Boys Choir. She enjoyed spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Tracey Sims Gurley and husband, Michael of Raleigh and a son, Jeffrey Todd Sims and wife Angela of Greensboro; 4 grandchildren, Madison Gurley, Syndall Sims, Brooks Sims and Devon Sims; a sister, Doris Oakley Herron of Elon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Sims; parents and Noel Gulser, Jr. who died in 2015.

A graveside service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00pm, Monday, October 9, 2023 at Alamance Memorial Park by Rev. David Wood. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30-1:45pm at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory.
