Jeannette Burden Martin, 82, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 24, 2026, at Moses Cone Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 26, 1943 in Alamance County, to the late Harry and Mabel Isley Burden and was the wife to James Franklin "Frank" Martin who survives.
Jeannette’s professional life was a testament to her passion and dedication. After more than 50 years in the beauty industry, she retired at the age of 80 as a cosmetologist. As the owner and operator of Classic Casuals in Hair Design, she was more than a stylist—she was a confidante, a therapist, and a friend. Her clients became an extended family; she listened with a compassionate heart and treated every visitor like a cherished guest. Her love for her craft shone brightly through the glitter and pizzazz she adored, always infusing her work with her vibrant personality.
Outside of her career, Jeannette’s spirit radiated through her community involvement and hobbies. A dedicated member of The River Fellowship, she volunteered wherever help was needed, reflecting her generous and caring nature. She enjoyed bowling, having shared many lively games on a bowling league with Frank in their earlier years. Coloring books brought her moments of peaceful joy, as did reading and spending quality time shopping and watching movies with her beloved grandchildren.
Never one to shy from challenges, Jeannette returned to school in her forties to earn her GED—not out of necessity, but as a personal triumph. Her determination was to prove to herself and her family that she could achieve anything she set her mind to.
Jeannette’s proudest accomplishment was her loving and devoted family. She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, James Franklin “Frank” Martin. Together, they built a life filled with love and cherished memories. Her devoted children, Kenneth Martin and his wife Lori, Pastor Todd Martin and his wife Tina, and Angel Kaffenberger and her husband Michael; her grandchildren that she adored, Kelly Martin, Brianna Vincent and her husband Tyler, Britt Kaffenberger and his girlfriend Daisya, and Abigail Kaffenberger; and was so proud to be a great grandmother to her great-grandchildren, Annalise Vincent, Makenna Vincent, and Tré Kaffenberger. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Don Martin and his wife Sue, a sister-in-law, Vickie Dennis, and several nieces and nephews. Jeannette has now been reunited with her loving parents, Harry and Mabel Burden; her granddaughter, Makayla Kaffenberger; an infant brother, Cecil Harry Burden; and her sister, Ruby Sykes, who preceded her in death.
Though Jeannette’s presence will be deeply missed, the love, wisdom, kindness, and shining light she shared will forever live in the hearts of her family, friends and all whose lives she touched.
