Jeffrey Todd Young, affectionately known as Jeff, peacefully departed this world on August 20, 2025, at the age of 63, surrounded by the love of family, and friends at his residence. His life began on June 29, 1962, in a Jacksonville, Florida Naval Hospital to Patricia and Samuel. He spent his early years traveling as part of a military family. That is where he embraced a spirit of adventure and creativity that would define his journey.
Jeff was a man of many passions and talents. He spent many years as a self-employed Computer Tech, highlighting his expertise at various places like Net Path, Concept Design, Shoffner Industries, and JR Cigar Outlet. His career was marked not only by his technical skills but also by the friendships he made with colleagues throughout his professional life.
Jeff was known as a "Hippie," embodying the free-spirited nature and love for life. He cherished hanging out with his friends; smoking cigars, where laughter and fellowship flowed as freely as the smoke. His love for music was evident in his devotion to playing guitar, recording bands, listening to tunes with friends, and attending live performances. Jeff's broad interests included, skydiving, surfing, skateboarding, playing cornhole and woodworking. He embraced each experience with enthusiasm and zest. He loved the beach and spending time in the mountains. An avid reader, he held a particular interest for history, especially the detailed narratives of wars, with a profound knowledge of the Vietnam War.
Jeff is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Tammie Ann Prosseda Young, who was his partner and best friend through all of life's ups and downs, sharing countless memories together. He also leaves behind his loving mother, Patricia "Pat" Finck Young, and his cherished sisters, Lisa Sutton and her husband John, Jr. and Alison Young; his nephews, Joshua Sutton and wife Laura, Adam Sutton, Brett Riley, and his brother-in-law, John Prosseda III and his significant other Anh Vo and her daughter Magaritte, and his sister-in-law, Kathleen Prosseda, her son Jesse Sacavage and his significant other, Sana Ansari, his niece Kayla Prosseda. He is also leaving behind his precious feline companions that gave him so much happiness and grief.
Jeff was preceded in death by his father Samuel Vernon Young, Jr., and his beloved niece, Mackenzie Riley. He has now reunited with his loving feline companions, Cassiday, Kerouac, Squeaky Fromme, Top Cat and Vlad the Impaler who now join him in spirit alongside his other cherished furry friends.
As we remember Jeff, we hold close the many ways he enriched our lives—through his sense of humor, stories, music, and the love he carried for everyone around him. His legacy of kindness, creativity, and unyielding passion for life and knowledge will continue to inspire all who knew him.
