Jerry Coker

Jerry O. Coker, age 72, passed away on January 25, 2021 at Advent Health Hospital in Hendersonville, NC. He was a much- loved father, grandfather and husband. Spending most of his life in Burlington, NC, Jerry and his loving wife of 29 years, Marilyn Coker, retired to Franklin, NC, where they spent the last 5 years.

Jerry was a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he rose to the rank of First Lieutenant in the 1st Calvary Division of the US Army. He served his country with distinction and earned numerous medals including a Silver Star for Valor, two Bronze Stars for Valor, and two Purple Hearts. Returning home, Jerry worked as a loan officer and collection agent with Avco Finance. He continued his studies in real estate and mortgage insurance at Finance One and America General, where he made financial dreams come true for many.

In 2000, Jerry retired from finance and opened Coker Kennels and Grooming breeding Yorkies and Westies. He shared this love with his wife, Marilyn making owners happy with their bundles of joy. Jerry enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, driving fast cars, fishing and riding motorcycles. He was a Fun-Loving Biker.

Jerry was the proud father of three children; Ricky Coker (Katerina), MacKenzie Coker (Tricia), and Nick Anderson (Lori Ann). He also left behind seven grandchildren, Philip Coker, Nikolas Coker, Bill Gilmore, Damon Spelich, Ceridwyn Coker, Johnny Anderson, and Carr Anderson. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Combs, and his father, Pontis Coker.

A graveside service to celebrate his life will be held on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at 2:00pm at Alamance Memorial Park. The US Army will provide military honors.
