Jerry W. King, 72, of Burlington NC passed away quietly on the morning of March 11th, 2023 at his home surrounded by family. Jerry was born on December 21 1950 in Hendersonville NC to the late James Ben King and Theo Wooley Swearingen.
He was a graduate of Williams High School. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. After proudly serving his country for eight years, he began his longtime career at Electrolux/Lawrence Industries; retiring after 37 years.
Jerry was a devoted father, grandfather, and great grandfather who loved his family deeply. Jerry was a member of Deep Creek Baptist Church. He loved his church family and was affectionately known as “Precious”. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and was an avid Nascar fan. He will always be remembered for his sense of humor and hardworking ethics.
In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his brother James (Jim) King, sister Betty Nail, and great grandson Elijah McKinney. He is survived by his four children, Joy (Anthoney) Millner, Brandy (Norman) Carroll, Jennifer Wade (Brandon L.) and Brent King (Karen L.). Eleven grandchildren, one great grandchild. Three sisters, Sue Breedlove, Sandy (Paul) Parrish and Cathy (Lynn) Foster and one brother Charley Swearingen Jr. Along with a host of extended family and friends.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the excellent care and compassion that Jerry received from AuthoraCare. A special thank you to Sara, Lori, Joanne, Gail and Ashley.
The funeral service will be at 2:00pm, Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at Deep Creek Baptist Church by Pastor TOmmy Fargis. The burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors by the US Army. The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:45pm prior to the service and other times at the home.
