Burlington, NC Jerry Wayne Rudd, age 69, passed away on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at Twin Lakes Memory Care surrounded by his family. He was the husband of 47 years to Katherine Maness Rudd who survives. Jerry was a tobacco farmer for over 20 years and the Regional Vice President for the Mid-Atlantic States for over 10 years with American Agrisurance. He was the owner and operator of Rudd's Berry Patch from 95' until 2002. Jerry also served on the board of Alamance Farmers Mutual for several years. He was a member of Long's Chapel Christian Church. He was a 1962 graduate of Pleasant Grove High School and a veteran of the US Air Force serving during the Vietnam War. Jerry was a former wildlife officer and he loved the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman taking trips out west to hunt big game. Jerry was a past member of the Bingham Lodge, Scottish rite and a Shriner. Daddy as he was known by his children was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Survivors include his wife, Katherine Maness Rudd of the home; daughters, Kimery "Kim" Braxton and husband, Mike of Graham, Kristen "Kris" Rudd of Mebane, Kelly Bollinger and husband, Daniel of Burlington and Karen Morris and husband, Allen of Stokes; grandchildren, Malissa Braxton, Amy Carnes, Elton Carnes, Jesse Money, Jerrie Bollinger, Levi Bollinger, Alley Morris and Adam Morris. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elton Lee Rudd and Ethel Stanley Rudd. Jerry's family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff of Twin Lakes Memory Care for their kind and compassionate care. A service to celebrate his life will be held on Sunday, January 27, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel and the burial will follow with military honors at Long's Chapel Christian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 pm on Saturday at the funeral home and other times at his daughter's, Kelly Rudd Bollinger on Sandy Cross Road.
