Jerry Tickle

Mr. Jerry Thomas "Tommy" Tickle, age 69, died Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at Select Specialty Hospital after a short illness. A native of Alamance County, he was the son of the late Clarence E. Tickle and the Late Ruby Qualls Tickle and was married to the late Linda Faye Norton Tickle, who died in 1986. He was retired from Sonoco Products and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Tickle was very involved with the Boy Scouts of America from an early age. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout in 1961 and was later the 1st appointed Chief of the Tsoiotsi Tsogalii's Lodge. Mr. Tickle is survived by his two daughters, Darlene Tickle of Mebane and Wendy Ashby of Burlington; his "adopted" son, David Jones of Greensboro; six grandchildren, Chris Lewis, Nikki Lewis, Jared Pearce, Greg Ashby, Jeremy Ashby and Mitchell C. Jones; two great grandchildren, Lauren Ridge and Jasper Lewis; two sisters, Audrey Harold Nunn and Maggie Herb Wright, all of Burlington; and a brother, Bobby Douglas Pauline Tickle of East Hartford, CT. He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; and two brothers, Conrad Allen Tickle and Clinton Arliss "Petie" Tickle. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Rainey Qualls, Jr. Interment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30 1:45 Saturday afternoon prior to the service at the funeral home.
