Jerry Keith Whitesell, 66, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 3, 2025 surrounded by his family at the Hospice Home. He was born on July 20, 1958 to the late John William and Ruth Wyatt Whitesell.
Jerry retired after over 20 years with LabCorp. He was a 1976 graduate of Cummings High School and received his Associates Degree in photography from Alamance Community College. Jerry was an avid fan of the UNC Tarheels and the Minnesota Vikings. He enjoyed Elon University Baseball games and supporting the Burlington Sock Puppets. Jerry was a Civil War Historian taking several trips to Gettysburg Battlefield where he spent many happy hours enjoying the view from Little Round Top. He enjoyed eating out in local restaurants, especially meeting friends at Boston Sandwich Shop. Jerry was fond of all genres of music.
Jerry is survived by his sister, Evelyn Brown and husband, Larry; his nephew, Travis Brown and special cousin, John Fender and other cousins and special friends.
A graveside service to celebrate his life will be held on Friday, March 7, 2025 at 2:00PM at Pine Hill Cemetery by Rev. Larry Lamberth. The family will receive friends at other times at the home of his sister in Elon. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Hospice for their kind and compassionate care for Jerry.
