Jessie Cox Oakley

October 7, 1984 — December 12, 2022

Jessie Cox Oakley, 38 went home to be with the Lord  on Monday, December 12, 2022. She was a native of Alamance County and the wife of 9 years to Martin Oakley who survives.

Jessie was employed with Alamance County DSS Health Service Center. She attended St. Marks Church. Jessie was a 2002 graduate of Graham High School and received her BA in Social Services from Appalachian State University in 2006. She was an avid App State Football fan and a UNC Tar Heel fan. She loved animals and working in the family vegetable garden. Jessie was a talented cook, avid reader and devoted mom to her two children.

Jessie is survived by her husband, Martin Oakley of the home; children, Garrett Oakley (7) and Aubrey Oakley (5) of the home; Mother and Step father, Betty Sexton and Lawrence Parrish of Graham; sisters, Whitney Cox of Mebane, Jaclyn Parrish of Greensboro and Tara McPherson of Graham; brother, Jay McPherson of Haw River; step mother, Susan Cox of Graham; niece, Olivia McPherson and nephew, Axel McPherson along with numerous other nieces;  her canine companions, “Jackson” and “Millie”. She was preceded in death by her father, Jerry Mack Cox.

A service to celebrate Jessie’s life will be held at 3:00pm, Friday, December 16, 2022 at St. Marks Church by Rev. Bob Disher and Rev. Pete Stearns.  The family will receive friends following the service in the church atrium.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Burlington Animal Services, 221 Stone Quarry Road, Burlington, NC 27217.
