Jesus Flores Garcia, Jr. “JR” born on June 18th, 1961 in Indianapolis Indiana. His parents, Jesus Garcia and Maria Flores Garcia, 2nd generation US citizens, were originally migrants traveling the country working the fields until the mid 60’s when they settled in Deshler, Ohio. Where Jesus (the oldest child) grew up along side his five siblings Senon, Deanna, David, Linda, and Raynaldo. With such a large family, things were tight and everyone had to contribute. This lead a family oriented atmosphere which created a bond with the family that would shape JR’s life.
Shortly after finishing high school, JR moved to Port Clinton, OH, where the began working at a manufacturing plant. He started out in an entry level position. However, through his ambition and willingness to go the extra mile, and his desire to succeed, he quickly rose through the ranks.
While working for the manufacturing plant, at the height of his career, his brother Senon and his wife Shirley, set him up on a blind date. No one would have ever guess that the he would have meet the love of his life, Valerie Wyant. The two of them eventually married on August 27, 1994. On June 3, 1997, they purchased their forever home and moved to Burlington, NC. Then, the very next day, Valerie went into labor and gave birth to their first son David. David wasn’t an only child for long. On January 21, 1999, JR’s second son, Matthew, was born.
During these days, Jesus was extremely active; playing golf, volleyball, racquetball, all while spending long days at work. JR was living his life full throttle, thinking he was in control. However, God had other plans for him which brought his focus back to his family.
In 2006, while in his late thirties, JR had a quadruple bypass, and shortly after lost his kidneys. With two kids provide for, Valerie began working at the local hospital, allowing Jesus to spend time with their kids. He and Valerie prayed to God to help them find a way through, which he did. JR was blessed in many ways
Blessing #1 Given the opportunity to be present for his family.
During this period, JR took care of the household and coached an extremely successful soccer team, all while being on dialysis multiple times a week. David and Matthew remember their father having variety of odd ball jobs from selling snowballs to teaching soccer.

On June 21, 2012, Jesus received a kidney transplant which allowed him to once again live his life. He joined a pool league, through a local pool hall, took his family on multiple family adventures, and received a culinary degree from ACC. Once again, he was the backbone of the family..
Blessing #3: See his boys become men
He was able to see both his sons grow into manhood. Seeing both of them marry, David to Kayla, and Matthew to Andie. However, he was able to spend time with his 4 year old grandchild Benjamin Garcia.
When people think of Jesus they often talk about of his sense of humor, positive attitude, and willingness to keep going.
