Joan Armstrong Rogers

Joan Carroll Armstrong Rogers, 81, died peacefully on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at Alamance Regional Medical Center with her loving family by her side.  She was born in Alamance County on July 11, 1939 to the late Wesley Rufus Armstrong and Edith Carroll Ray Rogers, and was married to the late J.R. Rogers who died in 1995.

She retired as the owner and operator of Brass Bed Furniture & Accessories.  She received her associate degree in business in 1996 from Alamance Community College.  Joan was a member of North Graham Baptist Church; she loved animals, enjoyed making wreaths, cooking, planting flowers, ancestory.com, and sewed in her earlier years, but most of all Joan loved her family and spending time with them.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister who will be missed dearly.

Joan is survived by her daughters, Kaye (Timothy) Williams, Donna Mercer Gibson and Gail Mercer; a son, Malon (Donna) Rogers; 16 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren; a sister, Diane McKinney; several nieces and nephews; and her feline companions, Gracie and Mercy.  Joan was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a son, Wesley “Jimmy” James Mercer; a sister, Linda Montgomery and her feline girl, Angel, who will be buried with her.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00pm Monday, May 17, 2021 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Randy Haynes with the burial to follow at Alamance Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 12:30pm to 1:45pm on Monday prior to the service and other times at Kaye’s home in Graham.
