John Bishop, Jr.

BURLINGTON- Mr. John C. Bishop, Jr., age 65, of Russell-McPherson Rd., died Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at Alamance Regional Medical Center after several months of failing health. A native of Alamance County, he was the son of the late John Colon Bishop, Sr. and the late Mary Irene Parrish Bishop. John was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Korea during the Vietnam War. He retired from Newman Machine Company and was of the Christian faith. Mr. Bishop is survived by a daughter, Sharon B. Jones and her husband, Wayne; four sons, John C. Bishop III, Marc Bishop and his wife, Amy, Stephen L. Bishop and his wife, Joy, and Philip W. Bishop; fourteen grandchildren, Daniel, Amelia, Amanda and Delvin Jones, Micaela, Jonathan, Zachariah, Grayson, Cora, Wesley, Sarah, Corey, Brooke and Gracelyn Bishop; and a sister, Norma Jean Graves and her husband, Jimmy. A memorial service will be conducted at 10:00 AM Saturday, March 10, 2012 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service and other times at the son, Stephen's, home, 2856 Russell-McPherson Rd., Burlington.
