John Dixon, Jr.

John Dixon, Jr., 86, died Saturday, October 28, 2006 at his daughters home after several months of failing health. A native of Richmond, VA, he was the son of the late John Dixon, Sr. and the late Minnie Elmore Dixon and was married for over 45 years to the late Heather Margaret Clara Dixon, who died in 2001. He was a retired photographer with the Ft. Lauderdale Police Department and was of the Baptist faith. He was an avid tennis fan and served as a lifeguard on Virginia Beach. Mr. Dixon is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Clover M. Colonel and her husband, Tom, of Burlington and Ms. Heather Amanda Dixon Byrd and her husband, Jon, of Greensboro; a son, Perry Lee Dixon, Sr. and his wife, Mary, of Travelers Rest, SC; four grandchildren, Megan Colonel, Ryan Colonel, Perry Dixon, Jr., and Nicholas Eleftheriou; a sister, Mrs. Mildred Sullivan of Manassas, VA; and two brothers, Marvin E. Dixon and George Dixon, both of Mechanicsville, VA. The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Tuesday, October 31, 2006 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Garry Gates. Interment will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Monday evening at the funeral home.
