Mr. John Lee Harden, 86, of Gibsonville passed away peacefully Saturday, August 1, 2026, at his residence.
John was born in Alamance County on October 28, 1939, to the late Willis Winfield Harden and Metha Belle Sharpe Harden. He proudly served his country for four years in the United States Navy before beginning his 30 year career as an Engineer with Duke Power. Following his retirement, he worked part-time as a courier for Labcorp.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Ann Cobb Harden; his son, John “Jay” Harden Jr.; his daughter, Anne Harden Connolly and husband, Jeffrey; his step daughter, Kathy Carroll. He was affectionately known as “Hoppy” and “Papa” to his surviving grandchildren, Jessica Anne Ball, William Andrew Ball and wife, Erica, Sarah Elizabeth Ball, Mason Elizabeth Connolly, Reynolds Long Connolly; step grandchildren, Michael Carroll and Adam Carroll; great grandchildren, Tatum Quinn Ball and William John Ball.
Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his first wife, Willie Faye Long.
Per his wishes, no funeral service will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Family Abuse Services of Alamance County, P.O. Box 2192 Burlington, NC 27216.
