John Myers

John A. Myers, 69, of 2027 Woodland Ave., died Sunday, June 24, 2007 at the Hospice Home after 15 months of declining health. A native of Alamance County, he was the son of the late Cecil W. Myers and the late Beryl McAdams Myers and was married for over 42 years to Shirley Burgess Myers, who survives. He was owner and President of John A. Myers Enterprises since 1979 and was involved in the aerial and utility equipment industry for over 47 years. He was a member of Piedmont Presbyterian Church and the Oldsmoble Club of America. Mr. Myers was very active in the Masonic and Shriners organizations. He was a member of the Burlington Masonic Lodge 409, and was a 32 Degree member of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, S.J., U.S.A. in Valley of Raleigh Orient. He was a past Secretary and President, and had received a Lifetime Membership in the Burlington Shrine Club, where he was currently on the Board of Trustrees. He was also a member of the Amran Temple of Raleigh. He was the National Representative of North Carolina of the Royal Order of Jesters, where he was a Royal Constable and received the Emeritus Award. He was also was a member in the Burlington Moose Lodge 649. Mr. Myers is survived by his wife of the home; two daughters, Jodi L. Myers of McLeansville and Cindy M. Daigre and her husband, Alan, of Readyville, TN; a son, Jeffrey T. Myers of Burlington; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Jeane Hornaday; and a brother, Walter C. Myers. The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 27, 2007 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. Benjamin F. Williams. Interment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Tuesday evening at the funeral home and other times at the home.
