John Al Perkinson

     Mr. John Al Perkinson, age 92, of Burlington, passed away on Friday, August 19, 2022 surrounded by his family at the Hospice Home after several months of failing health.

     He was born on September 17, 1929 in Wadesboro, NC and was the son of the late Howard Perkinson and the late Myrtle Finch and was married for over 69 years to Mrs. Betty Barbour Perkinson, who passed in 2019.  John retired from AT&T with over 40 years of service and was a member of Pioneers of America.  He served as a youth coach for over 20 years with Alamance County and Burlington Parks and Recreation and was a member of Ireland St. Chapel.  He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

     Mr. Perkinson is survived by his son, Michael C. “Perk” Perkinson and his wife, Lisa; a granddaughter, April Perkinson Qualls and husband, Justin; step grandchildren, Kristyn Saul Lindley and husband, Austin and Dustin Saul and wife, Haley; great grandchildren, Hannah, Lainey and Lincoln Qualls; and step great grandchildren, Declan and Berklynn Lindley and Emmie and Carter Saul.  He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; two sisters, Elizabeth Patterson and Ruby Stephens; and four brothers, James, Ralph, Hubert and Gene Perkinson.

     The funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. Donnie Perkinson, his nephew.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:30 AM Tuesday prior to the service at funeral home.
