John Patrick "Pat" Ricks Jr., passed away on May 2, 2026 at the age of 60.

Pat was born and raised in Virginia Beach, VA. He was the son of John Patrick Ricks Sr. and Beverly Rohanna D'Apolito. He attended First Colonial and Floyd E. Kellam High School in Virginia Beach. He was a wrestling city champion for Virginia Beach Junior High, and played football from little league through high school. He excelled at every sport he played. In his free time, Pat loved going to the beach and surfing on his board, Potato Chip. Also, fun fact...Pat could recite the entire Tales of Peter Rabbit book by the age of 3.

Pat was known as a legend in the restaurant industry for his bartending skills at Mitty's and Drake's, but his biggest accomplishment was when he opened his own restaurant, Port 151, in Poquoson, VA, that was open for 14 years.

Pat married Karen Lee in 1996 and had two children, Savannah Lee Ricks and Patrick Dalton Ricks. Later in life, Pat reconnected with his high school sweetheart, Allyson Haskins, whom he spent the last 10 years with.

Left to cherish his memory are his dad and stepmom, John and Betty Ann Ricks; sister, Tiffany; daughter, Savannah; son, Dalton; mother of his children, Karen Lee; grandson, River; granddaughter, Stormy; girlfriend, Allyson; his beloved cat, Leif Garrett; and a host of other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his mom, Beverly.

A celebration of Pat's life will be held from 12 PM - 2 PM on Sunday, June 7, 2026 at Las Reinas Cocina, 13 E Queens Wy E, Hampton, VA 23669.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The American Heart Association (www.heart.org).
