John Henry Terrell, 84, went home to be with the Lord Monday, December 31, 2007 at his residence. Mr. Terrell was born January 21, 1923 in Caswell County to the late J. O. Terrell and Ester Jackson Terrell. He was married to the late Lucy King Terrell who preceded him in death in 1992. He retired from Holt Finishing Hosiery Mill, was a member of People's Memorial Christian Church, served in the U. S. Army, and was a former member of the American Legion. Survivors include a daughter, Tina Terrell Simmons of Gibsonville; a son, Eugene Terrell and his wife Georgia of Mebane; step-daughters, Lucy "Sissy" Long and Shelby Michaels and husband Colon all of Burlington; step-sons, Ronnie Long and wife Martha of Haw River and Jonny King of Pleasant Grove; seventeen grandchildren, and twenty great grandchildren; two brothers, Herbert Terrell and wife Judy of Charlotte and Joe Terrell and wife Ellen of Mebane; a special and dear friend, Mary Lee Pettigrew, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, a daughter, Lavonna Gail Terrell; grandson, Gene Wolf; five brothers, and two step-sons, J.D. Long and Tommy Long. A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 3, 2008 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. John Shields. Interment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and at other times at his daughter's home, 823 Park Dr. Gibsonville.
