Joseph Ciriano, jr.

Joseph Ciriano, 87, passed away peacefully at Duke Regional Medical Center on Tuesday, December 21, surrounded by his family. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on August 2, 1934 to the late Joseph Frederick Ciriano Sr. and Atoinette Pizza Ciriano and was the husband of 61 years to Marian Sincinito Ciriano who passed in December of 2020. He was a 1952 graduate of the Brooklyn Technical High School and joined the U.S. Army after graduation.

Joseph worked in real estate for many years before transitioning to the mortgage business in 1983. He and his wife moved to Durham in 1962 and were two of the original parishioners of the Holy Infant Catholic Church in Durham. Joseph was known for being very personable, he befriended everyone he met and loved getting to know them and their stories. He had a kind word for everyone he met.

Survivors include his children; Joe Ciriano of Burlington, Linda A. DesRoches (Tom) of Davidson, Steven J. Ciriano (Julie) of Louisville, KY; nine grandchildren, Ashley Cohn, Emily Ward, Charles Ciriano, Julia DesRoches, Aiden DesRoches, Rebecca Ciriano, Grace Ciriano, Hannah Ciriano and Maya Ciriano; three great grandchildren, Julian Thomas Ward, Ronald Joseph Cohn and Anna Joy Cohn and a brother, Anthony Ciriano (Linda) of Durham. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marian Ciriano; parents, Joseph and Atoinette Ciriano; step mother, Yolanda Ciriano; brother, Michael Ciriano and a sister; Estelle Ciriano.

A funeral mass will be held at 1:00PM, Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with the burial to follow at Magnolia Cemetery in Elon. The family will receive friends from 4-6PM on Tuesday, December 28th at Lowe Funeral Home.
