Joseph Wade Mabe, Jr.

Joseph Wade Mabe, Jr., 70, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 6, 2026 at Duke University Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born in Carroll County, VA on March 20, 1956 to the late Joseph Wade Mabe, Sr. and Virginia Darlene Gallimore Mansfield and was the husband of nearly 50 years to his “princess”, Joyce Isom Mabe of the home.

Joseph was employed with Copeland Fabrics for over 45 years before later retiring. He was a hard worker who took pride in providing for his family. He enjoyed playing golf and bowling, but most of all he enjoyed the comforts of his own home and spending time with his wife, Joyce.

Other than his wife, he is survived by his son, Joey Mabe (Kristy); daughters, Ruth Isom, Sherry Telgarez (Ernie), Angela Hathaway (Keith); grandchildren, Gwendolyn Mabe, Erica Indorato, Brian Indorato, Gage Murray, Chastin Murray (Nicole), Michael Alcon (Shawna), Landon Alcon (Madison), Jordan Hathaway; eleven great grandchildren, brother, Scotty Joe Mabe and sisters, Abigail McDaniel and Kay Mills. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Marlece Garrett and Missy Phillips.

A service to celebrate Joseph’s life will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, September 12, 2026 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Reid Dickens with the burial to follow in the family cemetery at 1531 Meeting Ground Rd. in Burlington. The family will receive friends from 5-7pm on Friday at Lowe Funeral Home and other times at the home.
