Judy Buchanan Bateman

September 1, 1947 — October 2, 2025

Gibsonville, NC

Judy Buchanan Bateman, 78, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 2, 2025 at the home of her daughter, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on September 1, 1947 in Caswell County to the late Van and Edna Barts Buchanan, and was married for 47 years to the late Charles “Charlie” Bateman, who passed in 2014.

Judy enjoyed a fulfilling career, retiring from Honda Power Equipment after many years of dedicated service. She was a woman who spoke her mind and embraced her independence wholeheartedly. Judy was outgoing and her personality lit up any room she entered, making friends wherever she went. She was particularly supportive in all of her daughters' lives, embodying the values of love and encouragement that defined her character.

Judy's zest for life was evident in her numerous hobbies and interests. She was an avid traveler, always seeking new adventures and enjoying trips to the beach with family and friends. A member of the Burlington Shag Club, Judy loved to dance, particularly embracing the lively rhythms of shagging to beach music and enjoyed going to hear live bands whenever possible.

Judy is survived by her devoted and loving daughters, Barbara Noblin and Karen Bateman, and her cherished grandchildren, Jacob Noblin and Madison Noblin, who were the pride and joy of her life. Additionally, she is remembered fondly by several nieces and nephews. Judy has now been reunited with her parents, Van and Edna Barts Buchanan; her husband, Charles "Charlie" Bateman; her siblings, Faye Hyman, Mack Buchanan, and Jerlene Knight; and her very special friend, Bernie Simber.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the Hospice nurses and staff for all their support, loving care and compassion that was shown to their mother and to their family during her illness.

While Judy's physical presence will be deeply missed, her legacy of love, independent spirit, and cherished memories will forever remain in the hearts of her devoted daughters, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. May her journey into the next chapter be filled with peace, joy, and eternal happiness.

Judy requested not to have any public services.
