Judy Carolyn Simmons Howell, 76, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 3, 2025 at White Oak Manor surrounded by her family. A native of Alamance County, she was born April 26, 1949 to the late Aubrey Hobart Simmons and Eliza Harrelson Simmons, and was the wife of 54 years to the late Ralph William “Mac” Howell.
Judy was a loving wife, devoted mother and grandmother. She and Mac stepped in and raised both of their granddaughters until they started school. Judy enjoyed trips to the mountains and spending time with her family. She was an avid reader and spent much of her time doing wordsearches and puzzles. Judy was a kind and generous soul, always putting the needs of others first. She was loved beyond measure and will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her daughter, Christie Howell Williams and her husband Shawn; granddaughters, Kelsey Toombs (Aaron) and Chloe Williams; a great grandson, Todd Toombs; and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members. Judy was preceded in death by her husband, Mac who died in August 2025; her parents; a son, Jeffrey Todd Amick; her sisters, Patricia Rudd, Audrey Hall and Elaine Dabbs; and a brother, Kenneth Simmons.
Christie would like to express her gratitude to the Hospice staff and nurses for all their support, loving care and compassion that was shown to her mother during her illness.
A service to celebrate Judy’s life will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, November 8, 2025 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Ted Wilkins. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:30-1:45 prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at Christie’s home.
