Burlington Ms. Kay Frances Young Riggins, age 76, went home to be with the Lord Friday, July 8, 2011 at Alamance Regional Medical Center following several months of failing health. A native of Alamance County, she was the daughter of the late James Marvin and Norweita Gerringer Young and was married for over 56 years to her high school sweetheart, the late Mr. Charles Edward Riggins. Kay loved her children and grandchildren. She was an avid Duke Basketball fan who loved watching her grandkids play sports. She was a lifelong member of Gibsonville United Methodist Church. Ms. Riggins is survived by her five children, Beverly Riggins Souther of Gibsonville, James Riggins and his wife, Marcia, of Charlotte, Alison Riggins Folwell and her husband, Darren, of Graham, Alisa Riggins Moser of Gibsonville and Stephen Riggins and his wife, Robin, of Burlington; thirteen grandchildren, Gavan Holden, Nikki Souther, Adam Riggins, Kyle Riggins, Olivia Riggins, Austin Tinsley, Aubrey Tinsley, Sarah Folwell, Joshua Folwell, Cole Moser, LCPL Wesley Fogleman, Caleb Riggins and Stephen "Eli" Riggins; a sister, Faye Dennis and husband Keith of Burlington and a brother, Jim Young and wife Pam of Gibsonville. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents. There will be a private graveside service. Visitation will be held from 2-4pm on Sunday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gibsonville United Methodist Church, 501 Church St., Gibsonville, NC 27249 or to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215.
