Kenneth Ray King., Jr.

November 12, 1981 — May 19, 2026

Burlington

Kenneth Ray King, Jr., born on November 12, 1981, passed from this world on May 19, 2026, leaving behind a legacy as steadfast and enduring as the engines he so lovingly repaired. With hands that could tame any stubborn motor or coax stubborn wheels back to life, Kenny’s career as a mechanic was not just a profession but a calling—a testament to a man who understood the heartbeat of machines.

In his spare moments, when the shop’s grease-stained walls gave way to open skies, Kenny found his true joy in the outdoors. The thrill of “mudding,” with mud-kissed tires and laughter filling the air, and the exhilaration of side-by-side riding thrilled his very spirit. He embraced the wild freedom of four-wheeling, where every turn and every bump on the rugged trails echoed his playful nature—a nature that reveled in life’s simplest pleasures.

But beyond his mechanical brilliance and adventurous heart, it was the moments shared with family and friends that defined Kenneth Ray King, Jr. Most treasured were the days spent alongside his beloved wife, Katelyn “Katie” King, and their cherished son, Kason King—together weaving memories into the fabric of their lives. The warmth of family gatherings with his special aunt and uncle, Leonard and Angie King, added richness to his world. He found solace and lasting bonds with his father-in-law, Barry Thomas, and the loyal companionship of his best friends, Jimmie and Alison Justice, whose friendships stood as steadfast pillars in his life.

Kenny’s playful spirit and love for the great outdoors will forever be remembered by those who knew him—a man whose laughter could brighten the darkest day and whose presence brought a sense of adventure to all who crossed his path.

He now rests beside his late parents, Kenneth Ray King, Sr. and Elaine Straughan King, along with numerous aunts and uncles.

Visitation will be held on May 26, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory, located at 2205 S Church St, Burlington, NC 27215. The funeral service will follow the next day, on May 27, 2026, beginning at 11:00 AM at the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel.

As we gather to honor the memory of Kenneth Ray King, Jr., we remember a man whose life was a vibrant tapestry of skill, adventure, joy, and love. Though his journey on this earth has ended, his spirit—the laughter, the rides through mud and forest, the tireless fixing of all things with wheels and motors—will remain forever etched in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know him.
