Kenneth Victor Royer

Kenneth Victor Royer, lovingly known to many as "Chubby," was born on November 30, 1950, in Barton, Vermont. He passed away on August 24, 2026 leaving behind a lifetime of memories, stories, and a family who will forever cherish the love, wisdom, and strength he shared with them.

Ken spent his early years in Vermont, where he built a life centered on family, hard work, and the outdoors. He married the love of his life, Claire, and together they built a marriage that spanned 55 years. Side by side, they raised their family and operated a logging company, creating not only a livelihood but a way of life rooted in dedication, resilience, and teamwork.

In 1997, Ken settled in North Carolina, where he continued doing what he did best; working with his hands. He spent many years in carpentry, taking pride in every project and every job he completed before eventually retiring.

To know Ken was to know his love for the outdoors. Whether he was hunting in the woods, fishing, or spending weekends on the ball field, he was happiest when doing the things he loved. He was an exceptional ball player, and some of his greatest memories were made playing ball in Vermont and North Carolina, with his sons. Those who played alongside him knew his talent, determination, and love for the game.

More than anything, Ken was proud of his family. He took great joy in teaching his children the skills he had learned throughout his life, from hunting and fishing to the value of hard work and perseverance. His lessons were not just taught with words but through example. He showed his family what it meant to be dependable, hardworking, and loyal. The time spent with him outdoors, around the ball field, hunting, fishing or simply together as a family will remain treasured memories for generations to come.

Ken was predeceased by his father, Berton Royer; his mother, Noreen Royer; his brothers, Jerry Whitcomb, Lawrence Royer, and James Royer; and his sisters, Sandra Poutre and Maryanne Royer.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Claire Royer; his daughter, Katina Coffin and her husband, Todd Coffin; his sons, Kenneth Royer and his wife, Shelley Royer, and Kevin Royer and his wife, Kelly Royer. He was a proud grandfather to Matthew Royer, Tyler Royer, Grace Royer, Victoria Coffin, and Abbie Royer, and a cherished great-grandfather to Leon Royer.

He is also survived by his sisters, Beverly Hall and Theresa Perreault and her husband, Bruno Perreault, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends whose lives were made better by knowing him.

Though his family grieves his loss, they find comfort in the countless memories he leaves behind. Ken's legacy lives on in the values he instilled, the stories that will continue to be shared, and the love that remains in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A Celebration of Life will be held on September 5th at 2:00 p.m. at Baynes Baptist Church in Burlington, North Carolina. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that guests bring a food dish to share as we gather to honor Ken, celebrate his life, and share cherished memories with family and friends.
