Kenneth Wayne Rouse

August 23, 1956 — April 17, 2026

Burlington

Pastor Kenneth Wayne Rouse, 69, affectionately known to many as Pastor Wayne, departed this earthly realm on April 17, 2026, at his home, surrounded by the love and warmth of his family. He was born on August 23, 1956, in Lenoir County, NC.

Kenneth dedicated a significant portion of his life to the ministry, serving for two decades in various capacities—from youth pastor to associate pastor, ultimately rising to the esteemed position of senior pastor. His commitment to serving people and teaching them about God was not merely a professional pursuit; it was the very essence of his being.

For 15 years, Kenneth served as a chaplain at ARMC and Moses Cone Hospital, where he was a steady presence in times of crisis, offering solace and support to patients and families alike. Additionally, his 13-year tenure as a chaplain with the Burlington Police Department demonstrated his unwavering commitment to public service, bridging the gap between faith and the community in meaningful ways. He also passionately engaged in Jail Ministry, working to spread hope and redemption to those seeking a second chance. As a member of Faith Community Church of God, he instilled hope and strength in those fortunate enough to cross his path, imparting lessons of love and compassion that left a lasting mark on the community he cherished.

Kenneth's professional journey also included a notable chapter as a valued employee at Dick Shirley Chevrolet, where he endeared himself to colleagues and patrons alike with his caring and devoted personality. His friendly spirit and zest for life were evident not only in his work but also in his leisure pursuits. A passionate golfer and avid fisherman, Kenneth embraced the great outdoors with excitement. He found joy in exploring the breathtaking beauty of both the beach and the mountains, indulging in the adventures of travel and the joy of cruising the open sea. Yet, among all his interests, it was the cherished moments spent with his beloved family that brought him the greatest happiness.

Kenneth is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, Barbara Williamson Rouse, with whom he shared a life rich in love and companionship; his loving children, Andrea Rouse Jones and her husband Carlton, and Josh Rouse and his wife, Kayla and her daughter, Lydia; his supportive father, Pastor Kenneth Earl Rouse; his sister, Earle Dean Christian and her husband Larry; a brother, Ricky Rouse and his wife Robin; several sisters-in-law and their spouses; a brother-in-law; and several nieces and nephews. He has now joined his beloved mother, Cora Belle Dean Lanier Rouse, a loss that he had missed, because he looked to her example of faith throughout his life.

The funeral service to celebrate the life of Pastor Wayne will be held 2:00PM, Thursday, 4/23/26, at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. Russell Morris, Pastor Zachary Barnes and Pastor Mark Albertino, with the burial to follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00PM-1:45PM, Thursday, prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the home of Andrea and Carlton Jones.
