Kevin Russell Kooy

Kevin Russell Kooy, 64, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 26, 2023. He was born in Hammond, Indiana to the late Edwin Russell and Henrietta Zeldenrust Kooy. He was the husband of 38 years to Bonnie Gay Persons Kooy who survives.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Gay Kooy of the home; his son, Ryan Wayne Kooy and wife, Jennifer Marie Truesdell of Graham and his daughter, Kara Nalee Harman and husband, Seth Tyler of Graham; grandchildren, Milo Lee Harman, Jude Russell Harman, and Weston Edwin Kooy; a nephew, BJ Bauer and a niece, Rachel Bauer. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Barbara Bauer.

Kevin was a loving and faithful husband, father, and grandfather. He was kind, patient, selfless, and always willing to give to others. He was incredibly attentive to his loving wife, always looking out for her well-being. His children could always
depend on him to “come to the rescue” and help with whatever they needed. His three grandchildren were a great source of joy. Always compassionate toward animals, Kevin loved and cared for many cats over the years. He was disciplined and dependable, never wasting time and always looking for an opportunity to learn. By profession, he was a highly skilled software engineer who earned the respect of all who had the pleasure to work with him. His family and friends will miss his dry, witty sense of humor. A faithful Christian to the end, he studied the Bible daily and made a point to pray for others.

A service to celebrate his life will be held at Beacon Baptist Church on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at 2:00pm by Pastor Greg Barkman and Pastor Ken Harman. The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:45pm prior to the service. The burial will follow at Graham Memorial Park.
