Larry Milton Hughes

  Larry was a US AirForce Veteran and retired from Lucent Technology (Western Electric) after nearly 50 years of service.  He was the co-founder of Gibsonville Gospel Center and a lifetime member of Ireland St. Chapel, where he served as an Elder and Sunday School Teacher. Larry was devoted to his family and church. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was actively involved in supporting others. Larry was a faithful student of God’s Word, an avid reader, and a dedicated servant to his Lord and Savior sharing the gospel with others.

  He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; sons, Ronald Lee Hughes and wife Linda of Tampa, FL, Dale Lynn Hughes and wife Shannon of Burlington; daughters, LuAnn Hughes Woody and husband Jeff of Burlington, Julia Tabor and husband Jeff, also of Burlington; brother, David Hughes of Macon, GA; thirteen grandchildren, Lindsey, Chad, Kimberly, Lauren, Ashley, Ronnie Jr., Amber, Laura, Brittany, Savannah, Christina, Hunter, Cherokee and sixteen great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Zachary Wilson and a brother, Wayne Hughes.

  A service to celebrate Larry’s life will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Mr. Wayne Jones and Rev. Gary Williams. The burial will follow at Gibsonville City Cemetery with military honors.  The family will receive friends from 12-1:45 prior to the service on Saturday.
