Larry Dean Newton

Larry Dean “Moto” Newton, 67, passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2026. He was born in McDowell County to the late Charles Alvin Newton and the late Mary Lou Finley Newton.

Larry was the owner and operator of Premier Concrete Finishers for several years. He enjoyed coon hunting and was a member of a local antique classic car club. He was also the proud owner of three 1958 Chevy pickups and a 1958 Chevy Biscayne. Larry was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who was affectionately known as “Pop Pop” to his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Jeannie Newton; children, Amber Leigh Newton, Brandon and Jessica Lewis , and Joshua Alvin Newton; grandchildren, Alex and Audrey Johnson, Noah and Madilyn Krusinski, ElizaBeth Lewis, Vivienne Lewis, Beau Henry Lewis and Reagan Newton; great grandchildren, Loretta Krusinski and soon to be expected, Mackenzie Johnson; siblings, Doc Newton, Margie and Bob Varnadore, Lois and Bob Shipman, Dennis and Tammy Newton, and Ricky Newton; and his special pet, “Buddy”. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Betty Caudle, Kenneth Newton, Libby Ramsey and Stevie Newton.

A service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Randy Hobbs. The family will receive friends from 1:00–1:45 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
