Larry Gilbert Wilson, 93, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at Alamance Regional Medical Center. Born in Alamance County on April 28, 1930, he was the son of Alexander Burton Wilson and Mozelle Riley Wilson and was the husband of the late Edith Hunicutt Wilson.

Larry's restaurant venture began in 1968 when he established Larry's Charcoal Grill which ran successfully for nine years.  He then went on to open Larry's Seafood Restaurant where he worked alongside his wife and children. It grew to become a beloved fixture in the community for over 25 years.  Larry loved people and had a way of engaging with customers, especially the children where he would often baffle them with new magic tricks. He enjoyed telling jokes and making people laugh.

Outside the restaurant world, Larry had a passion for various hobbies that brought him immense joy. He enjoyed drag racing under the title "Good Ole Mr. Wilson," showcasing both his competitive spirit and love for speed.  Larry also enjoyed spending time on the golf course and spending countless hours searching for treasure with his metal detector.  He was also an avid Atlanta Braves fan.

Larry is survived by his daughter, Jerri W. Turner (Jeff), his son, Randy Wilson (Penni), numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and his sisters Anne Adams (Cliff), Jean Varner (Buzz), and Gayle Parks (Bob). In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his sons, Billy, Wayne, and Bobby Wilson; two sisters and three brothers.

A private graveside service will be held at Haw River Cemetery.
