Lawrence Little

Lawrence Little, a cherished father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loving family on September 28, 2024, at the age of 88. Born on December 21, 1935 in the Harlem area of New York City, grew up in the South Bronx, and raised his children in the North-East section of The Bronx, Lawrence led a life filled with warmth, laughter, and the joy of social connection.

For 36 years, Lawrence dedicated his talents to Beck/Arnley, a Foreign Auto Parts Manufacturing Company in Long Island, NY. After his retirement, Lawrence moved south to be closer to his family, eventually landing in Haw River, NC and then Mebane, NC.

The large and in-charge personality that encompassed Lawrence, was also the epitome of a family man. He took immense pride in his six children: Vincent Armstrong, Carla Mason with husband Charles, Tina Little-Coltrane with husband Milton, Lawrence "Larry" James with wife Donna, Lawrence Sean Little, and Terence Little. He also rejoiced in the love brought by his twenty-one grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren. Each holiday and special occasion gave an opportunity for him to showcase his love of barbecuing, and fellowship while sharing his favorite meals with family and friends. Bringing everyone together for a “cook-out” with good food, good drink, and plenty of laughter is what he enjoyed most.

Growing up, Lawrence, affectionately known as “Chubby” was deeply fond of nature and outdoor activities. In his younger years, he nurtured a passion for swimming, hunting and fishing, which created lasting memories for him to share. His zest for life and the joy he found in simple pleasures made him a beloved figure in the lives of his family and friends. “Pop”, as many lovingly referred to him in his later years, had a passionate and sociable personality that enabled him to forge relationships that lasted his lifetime.

Lawrence’s surviving siblings—Edward Little, Jean Wiggins, and Mozell Craft—are left to cherish his memory, alongside the unwavering love of his children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of other bonus relationships that were established and maintained throughout his long life, including with his former daughters-in-law.

He is predeceased by his faithful parents, Robert “Pop” Little and Elizabeth McDonald Little; four siblings, Roosevelt Little, Clinton Little, Joan Heath, and Robert (Bobby) Little; his former wife, Ruby Louise Little; and his cherished grandson, Kalup Maynard.
