Leonard “Lennie” Klug, 91, died in Burlington, NC on July 21, 2026. Born in Dundee, NY on February 3rd, 1935, Lennie was the son of the late William Joseph Klug and Pearl Rutan Klug.

Lennie grew up in Dundee, NY, graduated from Dundee Central School in 1952, served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War from 1952 to 1955, attended Milwaukee School of Engineering, graduated from Duke University with a BS in Electrical Engineering, and the Program for Technical Managers at the University of North Carolina Keenan Flagler Business School. For 37 years, he worked as a Manufacturing Systems Engineer for Burlington Industries, Inc., on plant, division and corporate engineering levels, working his last three years with Burlington in Mexico. He retired in March of 2000.

He was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Church in Burlington, NC, a life member of the VFW, and a member of the American Legion Post 0063 in Burlington.

Lennie is survived by a daughter, Sandra Klug of Burlington; a son, Darrell Klug and wife Amy of Greensboro; three grandchildren Dietrich, Alexander, and Marshall Klug; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brothers Herman, Anthony, and Ambrose; and sisters Berneda Weigand, Genevieve Palmer, Luvina Barbaro, Joan Bedell, and Patricia Foster.

Lennie was a great Dad and Grandad, with his happiest times being with family. Lennie especially liked family reunions held for many years in upstate New York. He was an avid Duke basketball and football fan and always held a wingfest Super Bowl party, particularly loved by his 3 grandsons.

A service will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, August 16, 2026 at Alamance Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, Burlington, NC, with entombment and military honors immediately following the service.
