Leonard Morris Taylor, 88, passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family. It was fitting that he was called home on Father’s Day. He was born on August 13, 1935 to the late Lonnie Clarence Taylor and Jennie Sue Earp Taylor and was married for 46 years to the late Frances Mae Hudson Taylor who passed away in 2000.

Leonard was a faithful and dedicated Husband and Dad and Paw Paw. He was known by some of his friends and baseball buddies as “Fireball.” He loved dancing with Mom to country music and he loved western movies – his favorites being Audie Murphy and John Wayne. Leonard served in the Civil Air Patrol and was a veteran of the US Navy. He loved being with his family, especially fishing and taking trips to Florida. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends, especially his endless stories and jokes.

Leonard is survived by his three daughters: Vicky Glassford (Fred) of Burlington, Debra DeRosier (Willard) of Burlington and Bonnie Dondanville (Dana) of Ohio; grandchildren: Timmy Jones (Mandy), Hope Allison Dodson (Jeff), April Jones King, Ashle Dondanville, Alan Dondanville (Megan), Joseph Glassford, Jamie Glassford Moore (Andy), Katy Dondanville and Abbi Dondanville; and eight great grandchildren; and a brother, Harris “Sonny” Taylor.

Along with his parents and wife, Leonard was predeceased by a brother, Billy Taylor and a sister, Dorothy “Dot” Loy.
