Lonie Powell

Lonie Waller Powell, 89, of 2074 Fire Tower Road went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 14, 2005 at Alamance Regional. She was a native of Rowan County and the daughter of the late Lonnie and Josephine Wesley Watson Waller. Lonie retired from Burlington Industries and was a member of The Baptist Temple of Alamance. She was a volunteer for 14 years with Hospice of Alamance-Caswell working with the annual Hospice Flea Market. Lonie was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Survivors include her daughter, Jo Frances Kinney Fisher of Snow Camp; grandchildren, Dana Phillips, Teresa Pittillo and Allen Fisher; great grandchildren, Trevor , Erik and Joseph Fisher, Parker and Haden Pittillo. She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Herman Kinney and her former husband, Everett Filmore Doc Powell and her parents. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. Donald R. Carter officiating and the burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday evening at the funeral home and other times at the home.
