Louise Cooper Scott Uzzell

Louise Uzzell, 88, died in hospice care on Saturday, May 23rd, 2026. She served her community as a kindergarten teacher at Burgaw Elementary from 1967 - 1993, after having taught 3 years at Alexander Wilson School in Alamance County. She liked to play the autoharp, the piano, and she sang in the choir at the Burgaw Presbyterian Church for over 50 years. Her memory carries on with her sons Dick and Patrick Uzzell, daughter-in-law Akemi Umetani, and her grandchildren, Neil, Sarah, Alex, and Isaac Uzzell. She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Richard Uzzell, Jr. She is the daughter of Samuel Allen Cooper, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Scott Cooper. She is also survived by her sister, Geneva Cooper Williford, 95.

Visitation will be held at Lowe Funeral Home in Burlington from 5-7 PM, on Wednesday, May 27th. The funeral will be on Thursday, May 28, at 11 AM, at Lowe’s Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at Burgaw Presbyterian Church in Burgaw, NC, at a date in late June to be determined.
