Louise "Lucy" Truitt Goodell

Louise Truitt "Lucy" Goodell, age 99, passed away on July 17, 2026 after a long and full life. She was the daughter of the late Vera Richardson and Ashton P. Truitt and was the wife of Kenneth Goodell Jr., who survives. 

Louise graduated from Elon College in 1948. She received her Master's degree from Peabody in 1951 and taught Jr. High School for 4 years before starting her family. She married Kenneth in 1953 and shared years of a close loving marriage. She was a member of Front St. United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Hazel Iseley, Helen Hicklin, Edna Noiles, Blanche Green and brother, Ashton Jr. She is survived by her husband Kenneth; sister, Betty Lawrie; daughter, Kim Knorek and son, Mark Goodell. Also surviving are three grandchildren and six great grandchildren. There will be a gathering of remembrance on August 28, 2026 from 10:00am to 12 noon at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory.
