Lucas Matherly Pierce, 44, a devoted husband, loving father, and dedicated public servant, passed away at his home on February 24, 2026.
For over 17 years, Lucas served as a police officer with the Greensboro Police Department, where he was known for his unwavering dedication to protecting his fellow citizens. His colleagues admired not only his professionalism but also his infectious sense of humor that could lighten even the toughest days on the job. Outside of law enforcement, Lucas found immense joy in working on his farm, a testament to his love for animals and hard work. He was known for his playful spirit, often pulling harmless pranks that brought laughter to his family and friends.
Lucas is survived by his beloved wife, Casey Pierce, with whom he celebrated over 21 years of marriage and together they raised five daughters: Presley, Miley, Oakley, Isley, and Everley. Lucas was a devoted father, fiercely protective and supportive, always striving to inspire his daughters and instill in them the values of kindness and hard work.
He is also survived by his parents, Dannie Wayne Pierce and Marquita Matherly Pierce, as well as his sister, Lisa Hammet, and her husband Jerrold. Lucas was loved by many and will be remembered for his generous spirit and the bright light he brought into the lives of others.
A service to celebrate Lucas’s life will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at Eller Memorial Baptist Church in Greensboro with the burial to follow at Lakeview Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 7:00 on Friday, February 27, 2026 at Lowe Funeral Home in Burlington.
