Lucille Miles

Mrs. Lucille Heath Miles, age 92, of Gibsonville, passed away on Monday, January 17, 2022 at her residence after a courageous eight-year battle with cancer.

A native of Guilford County, she was the daughter of the late William Stanford Heath and the late Euna Whitesell Heath and was married for over 74 years to Robert Abner “Bobby” Miles, Sr., who survives.  Lucille retired from Dixie Belle Textiles after 45 years of service and was a lifetime member of Friedens Lutheran Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher, youth leader and a member of the church choir.  She was a founding member of the Fire District 28 Ladies’ Auxiliary and a member of Bucks and Does Square Dance Club.  She enjoyed spending time gardening and feeding her hummingbirds.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and cherished the time she spent with her family.

Mrs. Miles is survived by her husband of the home; a daughter, Judie Wood; daughter-in-law, Jeanne Miles; four grandchildren, Greg (Lori) Wood, Jordan (Tracy) Miles, Brad (Anna) Wood and Margaux (Brad) Bellinger; five great grandchildren; and a brother, John William Heath.  She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Robert A. Miles, Jr.; and a sister, Ruby Loy.

The funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, January 23, 2022 at Friedens Lutheran Church by Rev. Bill Zima.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 2:45 PM Sunday prior to the service in the church.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends at other times at the residence.
