Margarette Hurdle

Burlington - Margarette Webster Hurdle, 92 passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2016. She was a native of Alamance County and the wife of the late June "Sonny" Mitchell Hurdle.

Margarette retired as a teacher from the Alamance - Burlington School system. She also taught for several years at Anderson School in Caswell County. Margarette graduated from Elon University where she was a member of a women's Sorority. She loved animals of all kinds and was a musician playing the accordion with her father who played the fiddle.

Margarette is survived by her daughter, Dawn Compton and husband, William of Burlington; grandson, Jerry Tyler Walker of Raleigh. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, Shirley and Oma Wagoner Webster and a brother, George Webster.

A service to celebrate her life will be held on Friday, December 9, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Alamance Memorial Park in the mausoleum chapel by Rev. Darrell Massey.
