Margaret Virginia Hatchel

Burlington – Margaret Virginia Tyree Hatchel, 92, passed away on Friday, June 4, 2021 at Alamance Regional Medical Center.  She was born on May 23, 1929 in Nelson County, VA to the late Lonnie and Maude Tyree and was married for over 74 years to Ernest Lee Hatchel, who survives.

Margaret enjoyed being a homemaker while her children were growing up but then went to work for MCR in Mebane for 15 years before retiring.  She would spend hours completing word searches throughout the day as well as catching up with friends on the phone, but most of all she loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include her husband; Ernest Hatchel, daughter; Deborah “Debbie” Mann (Mike), son; David Hatchel (Kathy), nine grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her son; William “Bill” Lee Hatchel, parents; Lonnie and Maude Tyree, one sister and two brothers.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 in the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Brian Covert followed by the burial at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00AM prior to the service.
