Burlington Mrs. Marie Phillips Dameron, 78, of 1328 Elder Way, died at White Oak Manor on Friday October 16, 2009, after several years of failing health. Marie was a former employee of C.B. Ellis Music Co. and Burlington Drug, retired from the City of Burlington as a dispatcher for the Police and the Fire Departments. She was a member of the First Wesleyan Church. She is survived by a sister Ginny Gallimore of Burlington, a daughter, Becky T. Lewis and her husband Jerry of Burlington, a son, Wayne Thompson of Burlington. 8 grandchildren, Harrell Wayne Barnwell and his wife Alicea and Nancy M. Fogleman and her husband John all of Burlington, Angi L. Powell and her husband Ike of Wake Forrest, Dan Thompson and Shawn Thompson and his wife Jana all of San Diego, CA., Richard Thompson of Alameda, CA., Pat Thompson and Justin Thompson of Ollalla, WA. 8 great-grandchildren, Michael Barnwell, Alex Barnwell, Jordan Lavoie, Meagan Cobb, Christian Mitchell, Drew Fogleman all of Burlington, Jacob Thompson and Jordan Thompson of San Diego, CA. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Max Dameron, her parents, Bert and Mary Phillips. Two brothers, Russell Phillips and James Phillips, two sisters, Rachel P. Marley and Bea Stutts. Two grandchildren, Tommy Wilkerson and Jennifer Thompson. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of White Oak Manor for all of the many years of loving and care of our loved one. The funeral service will be conducted on Monday, October 19, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at The First Wesleyan Church on Anthony Street by the Rev. Steve Saunders. Burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park with honors provided by the Burlington Police and Fire Departments. At other times they will receive friends at the residence.
