Marjorie Broadway King, 86, passed away on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at the Hospice Home. She was born in High Point to the late Wade Field and Martha Jenkins Broadway and was married for 62 years to Joseph “Joe” Kermit King who survives.
She was a former employee with First State Bank and was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. Marjorie loved to draw, work on puzzles, arts and crafts and to sing and dance. She also volunteered with the Red Cross and Meals-On-Wheels. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and maw maw who truly enjoyed spending time with her family.
Marjorie is survived by her loving husband, Joe; daughter, Pam Purdy (Jim); son, Scott King; grandchildren, Stephanie Hill (Barney), Brittney Haywood (Jasper), Sierra King, Hayden King, Eric Ware and Lena Ware; great grandchildren, Lily and Noah Haywood; daughter-in-law, Charlotte Keesling (Tim); nieces, Vickie Frazier (Peter), Susan Beal and JoAnn Andrews (who was more like a daughter) and her husband, John; several cousins and a granddog, Star. She was preceded in death by her son, Stephen King, son-in-law, Steve King, parents, and a sister, Ruth Brandon.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, November 4, 2023 at Emmanuel United Methodist Church by Rev. Amanda Hedden. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the family life center.
