Marlie Lee King, 71, of Alamance County, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at Alamance Regional Medical Center with his loving son-in-law, Joey by his side.
Born in Alamance County, Marlie was the son of the late Leroy King and Pauline King. He was the loving husband of Ann Rogers King, his beloved wife of 46 years, who died on April 16th, 2025.
Marlie was co-owner and operator of King’s Auto Salvage, where he worked side by side with Ann for over 30 years. Together, they built not just a business, but a legacy of hard work and community connection.
Marlie will be remembered for his kind and generous spirit. He grew up working alongside his father in the family auto parts business, where he developed a lifelong love of cars. He enjoyed working on cars, collecting them, and traveling far and wide to attend car shows. Whether under the hood or behind the wheel, Marlie found joy in all things automotive and loved sharing that passion with others.
Affectionately known as “Papa Marlie,” his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of his life. He embraced every opportunity to spend time with them, creating memories they will treasure forever. He also loved “lake life,” spending many cherished summers at White Lake and later at Hyco Lake, always surrounded by family and friends.
Marlie and Ann shared a deep love for car shows and traveling together. Over the years, they made countless cherished memories, with favorite destinations including Walt Disney World and Hawaii — places that brought them both great joy.
Marlie is survived by his son-in-law, Joey Loftis; daughter, Rhonda King Morrow; daughter, Jaime King Roberts (Phil); grandchildren, Korie Whited (Jason), Kacie Hicks (Tanner), Kayla Whited (Nathan), Jaden Rodriguez, Jordan Rodriguez, Jacie Rodriguez, Tyler Roberts and Noah Roberts; great-grandchildren, Palmer and Porter Hicks; sisters-in-law, Bobbie Hauser and Ann Rogers; son by choice, Jerry Kernodle and dear friend Doug Shambley.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ann Rogers King, daughter, Tina Lynn Loftis; son, Brian Lee King; parents; sister, Helen Sharpe, brother-in-law, John Thomas Rogers, Jr. and brother-in-law, Bud Hauser.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 3rd, 2026 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Scott Gindlesperger with interment to follow in Mebane Memorial Garden. The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM Monday, March 2nd, 2026 at the funeral home and at other times at the home.
