Mary Elizabeth Berry Mears

Mary Elizabeth Berry Mears (90) of Elon, NC, passed away on October 13, 2022 at The Hospice Home after a brief illness. She was born on April 13, 1932 in Hopeton, VA to the late Weldon A. Berry and Mary Walker Berry. In addition to her husband of 65 years, Donald Fulton Mears, of the home, survivors include a son, David Mears and wife Janette of Amherst, VA, and a daughter, Susan Mears Nance and husband Joel of Raleigh NC; five grandchildren, Jessica Mears Markey and husband Bobby, Jonathan Mears, Jason Nance, Daniel Nance, Kelly Nance, and one great-grandson, Luke Markey. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Atwood Berry and James Berry, and a sister, Audrey Berry Killmon.

Mary will be remembered for her deep love of family as a devoted mother and grandmother; her quick wit and sense of humor; and her selfless volunteering of time at church and the local hospital.

In accordance with her wishes, the family will receive friends from 1:00-2:30pm on Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at Lowe Funeral Home followed by a private burial at Alamance Memorial Park.
