Melba June Iwaniec

Melba June Iwaniec, 82, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at Beacon Place Hospice Home. She was born on July 26, 1940 in Perry County, Illinois to the late Wilbert George Valentin and Mabel Irene Morgenthaler Valentin.

Melba retired from the Alamance-Burlington School System after 30 years of service. She was the secretary at Turrentine Middle School when she retired. Melba enjoyed volunteering at ARMC, needlepoint, crafts, bowling, reading, but most of all she loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her son, Shane Iwaniec and wife Sarah Sink; her daughter, Shanna Dull and husband Charlie; her grandchildren that she adored, Tyler Johnson (Cat), Staci Johnson, Syan Iwaniec (Hannah) and Serra Iwaniec; a sister, Pat Culpepper; and several nieces and nephews. Melba was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Kimberly Iwaniec, and a brother, James Valentin.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, April 29, 2023 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Ron Philabaum with the burial to follow at Alamance Lutheran Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30pm to 1:45pm Saturday prior to the service.
