Graham - Michael "Mike" Kolody, Jr., 78, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 3, 1947, in Lorain County, Ohio, to the late Michael Kolody, Sr. and Helen Barbara Krucinski and was the husband to Carolyn Sue "Susie" Kolody of the home.
Mike was a dedicated family man and a proud veteran who served his country honorably for twenty-one years in the United States Navy. Following his distinguished military career, he continued to serve through various contract assignments for the military, showcasing his unwavering commitment and passion for supporting his country.
Mike is remembered not just for his service but for the warmth and love he brought into the lives of those around him. He cherished spending time with his family, and his grandchildren were particularly dear to his heart. He delighted in challenging them with educational questions and loved racing them around the house, always fostering a spirit of excitement and learning.
As a devoted member of Kinnett Memorial Baptist Church, Mike exemplified a strength of character that inspired those in his community. His kindness and joyful spirit were infectious, leaving lasting impressions on friends and family alike.
Mike is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Carolyn Sue "Susie" Kolody, who was by his side throughout their beautiful journey together. He leaves behind a proud legacy, including his son, James "Jimmy" Kolody and his wife Sharon; his daughter, Tammy Crabtree and her husband Keith; and his treasured grandchildren, Caitlyn Crabtree, Caleb Crabtree, and Carsyn Crabtree; his sisters, Denise Zimmerman and her husband Ken, and Christine Morgan and her husband Doug; his brothers, Alan Kolody and his wife Denise, and Timothy "Timmy" Kolody and his wife Melony; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service to celebrate the life of Mike will be held at 2:00pm Monday, October 13, 2025 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Don Pegg with the burial to follow at Alamance Memorial Park with military honors. The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM to 1:45 PM Monday prior to the service and other times at the residence.
