Mr. Michael “Mike” Todd Workman, age 60, of Graham, passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2023. At the young age of 12, he met the love of his life, Mrs. Carole Joyner Workman, who survives, and they were married for 41 blissful years.
There are many ways to describe Mike: loving husband, amazing dad, proud Pop Pop, caring uncle, loyal friend, and great boss man. Mike was employed in the steel fabrication industry for over 40 years, and for the last eight he was the owner and operator of Burlington Miscellaneous Metals. He served on the Board of NOMMA (National Ornamental and Miscellaneous Metals Association) for which he was President-elect.
Mike was a former pastor at both City Lake Baptist Church in Burlington and Holly Springs Baptist Church in Mount Airy before returning to the metal fabrication industry. He enjoyed boating and spending time at the coast, but he especially loved spending time with his family. He was a proud “Pop Pop” to his granddaughters. Mike was a dedicated family man and was always there when needed. He loved his family fiercely and without boundaries.
Mike is survived by his wife of the home; his two daughters, Jennifer Workman Strange and husband, Matt, and Abby Workman Surratt and husband, Darren; two granddaughters, Emilie "Emmie" Strange and Lola Surratt; his mother; two brothers, Stephen Freeman Ray Workman and wife, Michelle, and Julius Lindsey Workman and wife, Angie; brothers-in-law, Stephen Lee Joyner and wife, Joy, and James Scott Joyner and wife, Barbara; his in-laws, Elmer Lee and Rebecca Joyner; and several beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Todd Workman II and his father.
A native of Alamance County, he was the son of the late Grady Ray Workman III and Mrs. Geraldine Mangrum Stuffel, who survives.
